Macrobacter Development Report in Blueberries

Development of Macrobacter application in blueberry cultivation.

Project Characteristics

  • Company: Agrícola Los Espinos.
  • Crop: Blueberry.
  • Variety: Arana.
  • Planting date: February 17, 2023.
  • Sector: Palmitas 3.
  • Area: 1.168 Ha.
  • Number of plants: 5,308.

Problem

Physiological lethargy characterized by:

  • Substrate blockage or imbalance.
  • Poor root performance.
  • Poor vegetative performance.
  • Growth and flower buds halted.
  • Low or no fruit set performance.
  • General blockage of the WATER-SOIL-PLANT relationship.

MACROBACTER Challenge

Achieve, through its microbial formula, the activation of the SUBSTRATE-WATER-NUTRITION relationship, stimulating the metabolism of the soil’s PHYSICAL, CHEMICAL, and BIOLOGICAL properties, thus creating a balanced and favorable environment for the plant, enhancing the plant’s genetics and the applied nutritional formula.

Main Objectives to Achieve

  1. Obtain substantial savings by omitting soil inputs, favoring the cost/benefit ratio.
  2. Ensure sufficient health of the root environment by shielding the rhizosphere against soil pathogens.
  3. Improve soil conditions for greater water retention with adequate substrate aeration.
  4. Accelerate the decomposition of organic matter to achieve soil balance.
  5. Create conditions to obtain and solubilize the soil’s NPK relationship through the induction of the bacterial complex.
  6. Enhance the provided nutritional formula.
  7. Contribute to the strengthening of conductive tissues, ensuring proper nutrient assimilation and transport.
  8. Create conditions for the activation of phytohormones and essential amino acids that promote growth points.
  9. Maintain plant health until the end of the cycle.
  10. Ensure the highest yield and best quality of the fruit.

Process Description

Application Procedure

Start date: October 12, 2023.

First application:

  • 4 L of MACROBACTER.
  • 2 L of molasses.
  • 200 L of water.

Plant status at the start

  • Approximate height: 40 to 50 cm.
  • Low foliage density.
  • Low or no percentage of growth buds.
  • Unbalanced new branches and leaves.
  • Low flower prevalence.
  • Absence of fruit set.

Results of the 2nd foliar application (2 L). Evidence after 38 days

  • Growth and density of leaves and branches.
  • Change in color and size of leaves.
  • Note the fruit set.
  • Increased density of flowers and fruits.

Results of the 3rd application (2 L)

  • Achieving greater flower density and fruit set.
  • Obtaining more and larger calibers.

Results of the 4th application (2 L)

At this stage, the homogeneity in product size and density became more evident.

Observations from the 5th and 6th applications (2 + 2 L)

At this stage, fruits of better calibers were observed, but above all, the alternation of flowering with fruit set from new generations and the thickening of branch diameters, along with much greater growth, approximately 1.40 to 1.60 meters.
